The two year old Lando horse was a 130.000 Euro purchase at Deauville last autumn and looks like a progressing type after his first Black Type-win under jockey Iriotz Mendizabal.
Calvados Blues sire Lando is also responsible for group placed Takhir, Germanys leading two year old colt and favorite for Germanys most important two year old race in October.
Restrained in third until pushed along to challenged with 350 meters remaining, Calvados Blue took an advantage into the final eighth and was ridden out to safely hold the late charge of Naval Officer.
"I think he has great potential and, although he’s still immature, there is more improvement to come”, said trainer Philippe Demercastel who might saddle the horse in the Criterium International (Group 1) at Saint-Cloud on November the 2nd.
